About

I didn't choose this work. Life built the case for me

Becky Kenrick

Financial Coach & Accountant, 20+ Years | AI Systems Builder | Founder, Velvet Sovereign | Solo Parent, Three Kids, No Contact

I didn't find my love for numbers in a classroom. I found it sitting on the floor of a library with an accounting book I couldn't put down, finally knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

What followed was 20 years of doing the work. Cost accounting, tax and financial planning, managing books for companies and eventually for my own household. I knew every number, every account, every asset. I was the one who made it all make sense, for other people, long before I had to do it for myself.

Here's the part that doesn't fit on a resume. I'm raising three kids solo, in a no-contact co-parenting situation, including a Division 1 athlete and a kid with ADHD, and I'm running a business at the same time. Nobody splits the load with me. There's no version of my week where someone else handles the class party or the client invoice or the 6am practice drop-off. I built Velvet Sovereign inside that reality, not around it.

Divorce is where I found out what all those years of numbers were actually for. I kept the records. Every spreadsheet, every statement, every account. When everything else in my life felt like it was being rewritten, those numbers didn't move. They were the one thing I could still trust, and they turned out to be enough to protect what was mine.

My lawyer said it to me directly: you know your story and your finances better than anyone. You should do this for other women.

That's true, and it's also incomplete. I don't just help women survive a divorce. I take whatever's in chaos, financial, operational, doesn't matter which, and I find the pattern inside it, build real structure around it, and hand the client back her own agency the whole way through. That's the same thing I do with a woman untangling shared accounts mid-divorce, a founder whose books don't match her effort, and my own business as I learn to run it leaner with AI instead of more hours.

I'm currently building that skill in real time, staying on top of what AI can actually do for a small business, not the hype version, the useful version, and bringing it into how I work with every client. Twenty years of financial rigor plus a woman who has to figure out the next thing fast, because nobody's coming to do it for her. That's what you get.

I'm not here to judge your numbers or talk over your head. I'm here to sit beside you, tell you the truth in plain language, and build whatever structure gets you moving again.

Here's what I know after 20 years: the numbers don't lie, but the story you're telling yourself about them might.

I build the tools I needed when I had no one to build them for me. Now I build them with you.

What People Are Saying

Working with Becky has been incredibly empowering. She helped me move past limiting beliefs and finally go after things I once felt too scared or stuck to pursue.

She has this unique ability to see paths, perspectives, and possibilities that aren’t always easy to access on my own. Through our work together, she supported me through some of the biggest transitions in my adult life: leaving my corporate job to pursue a more aligned path, starting and setting up my own business, and most importantly, shifting how I approach life’s big decisions.

Instead of feeling stuck at a crossroads, she helped me reframe those moments into questions like, “Why not me?” and “What’s the best / worst that could happen?” That shift alone has been life-changing.

Working with Becky feels like having a fairy godmother in your corner; someone who truly believes in you, expands your perspective on what’s possible, and knows exactly what to say. Sometimes it’s deeply loving, and sometimes it’s the honest truth you didn’t even realize you needed.

If you get the chance to work with Becky, be ready as your life will change in ways you never thought possible!
