I didn't find my love for numbers in a classroom. I found it sitting on the floor of a library with an accounting book I couldn't put down, finally knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life.
What followed was 20 years of doing the work. Cost accounting, tax & financial planning, managing books for companies and eventually for my own household. I knew every number, every account, every asset. I was the one who made it all make sense.
Behind the spreadsheets, I was living a very different reality.
For years I was in a relationship where the things that made me who I am were used against me, quietly, methodically, until my reality had been rewritten so many times I stopped trusting my own instincts. Everyone, including me, took a long time to see it clearly. But I had kept the records. Every spreadsheet, every statement, every account. And when he walked out and the financial attacks started, those numbers were the only thing I had that he couldn't touch.
My lawyer said it to me directly: "You know your story and your finances better than anyone. You should do this for other women."
That's when Velvet Sovereign was born.
What I didn't expect was how much healing would be part of it. Leaving a relationship like that doesn't just hurt your heart, it rewires your nervous system, and financial recovery and emotional recovery don't happen separately. They happen together, or they don't really happen at all. I spent years doing that work, retreats, coaching, therapy, learning to regulate the anxiety that had become my baseline, and it changed how I show up with every client.
I'm a Jay Shetty certified life coach with 20+ years of financial experience. I work with women in the middle of divorce, women launching businesses, women who have been financially controlled or gaslit or simply never taught how any of this works, and women managing the finances on investment properties they suddenly own alone.
I'm also a single parent navigating no-contact co-parenting with three kids, including a Division 1 athlete and a child with ADHD. I bring all of that into the room.
I'm not here to judge your numbers or talk over your head. I'm here to sit with you, explain it in plain language, and listen.
